The streets are back to normal downtown Ann Arbor, that is, as normal as they get. The garbage has all been hauled away, happy art collectors have taken their pieces home, artists have gone home with less work than they brought and, hopefully a little bit of $$ in their pockets (or a lot!).
Love it or hate it, Ann Arbor depends on the Art Fair to bring several hundred thousand people to the City to buy art, food, drinks, all kinds of retail items and stay in hotels and B & Bs. As a matter of fact, a 2008 Power Marketing survey reports that local hotels made $5million and restaurants made over $25million during Art Fair alone that year. Art is essential to our local economy!
The next time you have the opportunity to tell your Congressperson, schoolboard or state politican that art matters, keep those numbers in mind!

Art Fair news for WSG artists
As you venture out into the streets for Art Fair this week, look for WSG landscape painter Karin Coron Wagner at the South University portion of the fairs. Her spectacular landscapes will take you somewhere else and you'll have to take one home!

When Friday rolls around and you're ready for a slower-paced break from downtown Ann Arbor, head on out to charming downtown Dexter, 15 min. from downtown A2, to Valerie Mann's reception at The Side Door Gallery http://www.thesidedoorgallery.com

Ann Arbor.com reviews Segula retrospective
Thanks goes out to John Cantu for his thoughtful review of Dee Ann Segula's retrospective at WSG. Segula is a creative woman on fire, and this show is a testament to that. Her love of surface design, texture, pattern and process is evident in each piece. The show continues through the month of July. http://annarbor.com/entertaiPost Optionsnment/wsg-segula/
